Goro Ito

Composer/Arranger, Guitarist, and Producer. He has contributed with music for movies, dramas, and commercials and has released albums and been on tours both in Japan and abroad. He conducts solo activities as MOOSE HILL and is also part of the bossa nova duo naomi & goro.
Goro Ito directed the music for the movie "What the Snow Brings," which won 4 awards in 2006 at the 18th Tokyo International Film Festival, including the Sakura Grand Prix Award, the Award for Best Director, the Award for Best Actor, and the Audience Award. An original soundtrack was also later released.
Tomoyo Harada was featured on MOOSE HILL's second album "desert house" as a guest vocalist.
From 2005 to 2007, he released a "recording while on holiday" themed photo book + CD collabs entitled"HAWAII, HAWAII," "Rainbow Hawaii," and "Shanghai" under the alias MOOSE HILL together with KAMA AINA (Takuji Aoyagi) and Ren Takada (calling themselves the "gosanke" trio). Meanwhile, the naomi & goro albums "HOME" and "P.S. I Forgot" were also released.
In May 2007, Goro Ito performed in the Lohas Classic Concert produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto. That August, he planned and produced the "tribute" and "best" albums for Penguin Cafe Orchestra, which were released through Ryuichi Sakamoto's new label "commmons."Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yukihiro Takahashi, and Steve Jansen participated in the "tribute" album.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the "Kikkake wa Fuji TV" campaign, Goro Ito was in charge of the insert songs and music for the 2 short films "identify" and "metamorphosis" directed by Masahiko Nagasawa
Goro Ito produced Tomoyo Harada's 25th anniversary album "music & me," which came out that November, and participated in the album tour as the bandleader and as a guitarist. His "MOOSE HILL & MAN" collab album with French artist MAN was released simultaneously in Japan and France.
In 2008, Goro Ito was in charge of the music for the ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) Japanese work "Obake nante inai sa" (NHK Educational TV). The sixth album by naomi & goro entitled "Bossa Nova Songbook 1" was released through commmons. Created to honor the 50th anniversary since the birth of bossa nova, this album was naomi & goro's first bossa nova cover album.
Ryuichi Sakamoto joined as well on the piano. The group performed at the BOSSA AOYAMA 2008 event to celebrate bossa nova's 50th anniversary. They also performed at WORLD HAPPINESS as well as the Grand Mint Festival in Korea.
He produced Callin's "Hibi no uta," released in March 2009. The "Bossa Nova Songbook 2" (bossa nova cover album) and "passagem" (original) albums by naomi & goro were released after taking two months from February to April to create in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Guest performances included piano by Ryuichi Sakamoto and the cello by Jaques Morelenbaum. In September of the same year, naomi & goro performed at the Grand Mint Festival in Korea for the second year in a row.
In October, Tomoyo Harada's album "eyja," which was created in Japan and Iceland, was released.
From January to May 2010, Goro Ito participated in Tomoyo Harada's "eyja tour" as the bandleader and as a guitarist.
In April, naomi & goro held their first solo concert in Korea, and tickets sold out. From May, naomi & goro began performing with Naruyoshi Kikuchi (sax) at concerts and on the radio. On September 4, naomi & goro had their first full solo concert at Meguro Persimmon Hall's Small Hall, with Naruyoshi Kikuchi joining as a special guest.
On September 29, Goro Ito released his first rock album "Cloud Happiness" (his second album as Goro Ito since the "What the Snow Brings" OST). Yukihiro Takahashi, Sean O'Hagan (The High Llamas, Stereolab), and​ Icelander Valgeir Sigurðsson, who is also known as being one of​ Björk's producers, joined as special guests.​ XX
